Michael Witt | Brass

Michael Witt is an active tuba player, teacher, and conductor based in Rochester New York. Before starting his studies at the Eastman School of Music, Michael was an active musician in the Chicagoland area. He has studied Tuba under Scott Tegge and Don Harry.

Since arriving in Rochester, Michael has performed with the Eastman Wind Ensemble and the Eastman Philharmonia, as well as participated in multiple chamber and solo recitals.  He is also one of the founding members of the Cerberus Tuba Trio—a group finalist in the 2020 Northeast Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference (NERTEC) Chamber Music Competition. Outside of instrumental performance, Michael is also an avid conductor. He currently leads the Eastman Tuba Mirum, where he premieres arrangements by himself and other Eastman students.

Aside from his time spent performing, Michael teaches private lessons to students in his community, is a production assistant with Empire Film and Media Ensemble, works as a Program Assistant with Eastman Pathways Program, and founder of Waypoint Music Camps. In his free time, Michael enjoys hiking, playing video games, and supporting the Chicago Cubs.
