Artur Korotin | Readiness Strings & Studio Strings

 

Violinist Artur Korotin was born in Lviv, Ukraine before promptly immigrating with their parents to the US, Colorado. Driven to learn historical performance practices, perform contemporary compositions, blues improvisation, and free improvisation, Artur is invested in broadening their horizons through covering Hip-Hop, R&B, video game soundtracks, performing improvised songs, creating ambient music, and performing with electronics. Aside from performing Artur studied composition, conducting, is a music educator, and served as an administrator for a number of concertizing organizations.

Artur made an appearance on “From the Top” radio show (2015) and recurring appearances on Colorado Public Radio with the School of Arts Orchestra (2014-17). They were formally invited to perform at the Colorado Chamber Orchestra Academy (2015), and participated in Montecito Music Festival (2016), Aria Summer Academy (2018), and Meadowmount School of Music (2019). Their performance with Colorado Chamber Players of Shostakovich's 3rd String Quartet was recognized by Friends of Chamber Music, Denver (2016). Artur performed in the Colorado premiere of Lux Aeterna by Morten Lauridsen with Colorado Repertory Singers (2020). Artur received 1st prize at the Golden Key Festival for their solo piano composition, Fantasy Variations (2021). Their harp ensemble, Tedeschi Trio, placed 4th with a Platinum medal at the Quebec Music Competition (2022). Artur was invited to coach for the Adult Chamber Music Workshop under the Eastman Community Music School (2023).

Artur graduated with a BM in Violin Performance from the University of Denver (2021) under Yumi Huang-Williams and Professor Linda Wang, receiving recognition for best premieres of student works in 2019 and 2020. Artur graduated with an MM in Violin Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music (2023) under Professor Oleh Krysa, serving the role of Graduate Assistant for the studio. They were Co-Director of Recruitment for OSSIA New Music (2022-23), performing on collaborative outreach events such as the Music for Hospitals project for Eastman Performing Arts and Medicine (2023), Three Ways by Logan Barrett with BIODANCE for the Rochester Fringe Festival (2023), and Things left unbaked with University of Rochester's Program of Dance and Movement with choreography by Missy Pfohl-Smith (2023).

Currently, Artur is transcribing and translating interviews with Ukrainian violinist, Professor Emeritus Oleh Krysa and assembling an archive about Krysa's time studying under the renowned violinist David Fyodorovich Oistrakh. Artur is also the Secretary of the non-profit Soaring Arts Music Collective, they do outreach and run a concert series in Denver, CO. Artur performs on violin and keyboard for the comedy improv ensemble, Ham Radio in Rochester, NY.
